What should I expect?
When you enter any training session run by White Tiger Martial Arts, you should always expect the following:
You will be treated with respect by all of the instructors and current students
You will be taught in a safe and friendly environment which is not intimidating
You will be pushed to perform to your best, but never bullied or humiliated
In your first session:
You will be taken separately by an instructor or assistant instructor to learn the etiquette and stances
You should arrive 10 minutes before the stated lesson start time to allow this to happen
We will involve you in as much of the main session as we can, but where this is not possible, you will be taken separately
In your first month:
You will begin to have some interaction with other students but there will be no contact between you
You will be taught the basic punches, kicks and blocks, and the beginning of Nidan kata
You will be taught basic street situation self defence
At the end of your first month you will discuss your training with your instructor. At this time you will be asked whether you want to continue your training and apply to become a member. The final decision rests with the Chief Instructor, who reserves the right to refuse membership.
After your first month:
Your training will continue to build up towards the next grading assessment
You will begin to have some controlled contact with other students
You will be invited to attend Sunday courses where one area of training is focused on for two hours
