How long will it take to get to Black Belt? |
|
This is a great question and one we have been asked many times. The only answer is that it depends entirely on you. By this we mean it depends how committed and dedicated you are, what your ability is, whether you have developed the correct mental attitude and, most importantly, whether we feel you are able to complete everything that is asked of you in a Black Belt grading, which is totally different from any coloured belt grading that you will have experienced before. If you train on a regular basis, show improvement, and have the right attitude, then a target from beginning at White Belt through to the coveted Black Belt is expected to be anywhere between three to five years, although this is only a guide. The main question left to answer here is - What will you do once you get your Black Belt? Will you continue to train for a further two years towards your 2nd Dan? Will you set up your own session so that you can pass on your skills and knowledge to others? Will you feel that you have achieved all you wanted to and give up? Whatever your reason for wanting to achieve your Black Belt, do not rush through your coloured belt grades, as you could be left noticeably lacking in experience when it comes to the crunch. |
